Cold weather Skin Protection

When living in Scandinavia or other countries where the weather in the winter season is cold and wet it is my recommendation to ad an extra protective laying on your skin when going outside. Especially when your main transportation is on a bike, as it is for me, or you love to go skiing or other outdoor activities. This can help your skin not to dry out or get any cold and sun damage, but as I always want to remind people is that we are all different and what helps me might not be good for others, so this is only a recommendation and something to get inspired by like my other posts.

When your skin gets dry or irritated it weakens the skin barrier and outer influences like bacteria, air pollution and sun exposure will effect the appearance of the skin and also make long term damage, like wrinkles, skin acne, redness or other, so if you feel your daily skincare is not enough to protect and keep the skin hydratet when you are enjoying the the winter weather skiing, biking, working outside, sailing or other, then I can recommend to add the extra layer of protection to keep that skin looking and feeling healthier. Because skin cream for cold weather is rich you simple add a small amount on top of your other skincare, so if it is only used for you upper face and neck area the product will last for many months and therefore not an expensive add on to your skincare rutine.

Start using by accident

I have for many years used one product for protection on top of my other skincare, which I by accident tested on myself when going on a family ski vacation. We had bought this product for my son at the pharmacy because his skin sometimes went dry playing outside in the winter season, so we wanted to bring some protection for him just in case, when he had to be outside in the snow learning how to ski. I ended up also using this product by adding it on top of my other skincare and was very happy about the result because it was keeping my skin moist for a longer time by protected it from the cold. I have been using it ever since for other occasions too like when traveling on a airplanes, where the air can dry out your skin because of the constant air circulation, biking to work doing rough weather or being in an office where the air circulation or other elements can have an effect on your skin moisture. FYI For my son we only use sun protection, and if needed, some cold protection, and not anything else for now.

I have been happy about using Ceridal Petrolatum creme, so never tried anything else even though I am sure that other brands probably have something similar, because Petrolatum has been used for skin healing for more then 100 years. It is 100% water free and also contents Hydrogenated and Tribehenin which can helps prevent moisture loss, vegetable oil that helps skin health, Tocopherol that is a E-vitamin which can prevent early skin ageing and Citric Acid that can stimulate skin renewal. Sounds like all good things in my book.
